Female Doctor Dies Tragically After Crashing Into the Back of a Truck

Bangkok: A female doctor died at the scene after crashing into the back of a six-wheeled truck under the Krung Thon Buri BTS station, heading towards Saphan Taksin, Krung Thon Buri Road. An inspection of the car found a packet of cold and nasal decongestant medicine.

According to Thai News Agency, an SUV crashed into the back of a 6-wheeled truck belonging to a contractor installing concrete manhole covers under the Krung Thon Buri BTS station heading towards Saphan Taksin on Krung Thon Buri Road. The car was badly damaged and stuck in the back of the truck. One injured man was found, Mr. Panithan, 22 years old, a worker who was a traffic signalman. Rescue workers took him to the hospital. A deceased woman was found, the driver of the SUV, wearing a medical uniform. Her arms and legs were broken in several places. She was identified as Dr. Wirin, 28 years old, a doctor at a famous hospital. A packet of cold and nasal decongestant medicine was also found in the car. The label stated that this medicine may cause drowsiness.

The truck driver was questioned and stated that he had received an order from the company to replace the manhole cover in the middle of the road. He parked his car on the far right side, placed traffic cones and a traffic light, and had a subordinate signaling at the back of the truck. At the time of the incident, he was walking to check on the manhole cover and heard a car crash before discovering that the SUV had hit the traffic cones and the back of the truck. Initially, volunteers took the body of the deceased to the Chulalongkorn Hospital's Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy. Meanwhile, the police invited the truck driver to Samre Police Station for further questioning.
