Coach Joe Resigns After Chonburi’s Eighth Consecutive Winless Game

Chonburi: "Coach Joe" Teerasak Pho-on has announced his resignation as head coach of Chonburi FC following the team's eighth consecutive winless game. The announcement came after Chonburi FC drew 1-1 against Singha Chiang Rai United at home. This result leaves the team struggling at 15th place in the league standings.

According to Thai News Agency, the match, part of the BYD SEALION 6 League One Football, saw Chonburi FC, ranked 15th, host the 8th ranked Singha Chiang Rai United. The visiting team took the lead in the 27th minute after Piyaphon Phanichkul's long pass found Thanawat Phimyotha, who scored to give Chiang Rai United a 1-0 advantage. However, the visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 38th minute when Piyaphon Phanichkul received a red card following a VAR review.

In the second half, Chonburi equalized in the 61st minute when Santiphap Channgorm's shot deflected off Thanawat Phimyotha and resulted in an own goal. The match concluded with a 1-1 draw, allowing Chonburi to earn one more point but remaining in 15th place with a total of five points. Meanwhile, Singha Chiang Rai United, also known as "Kuangsong," accumulated 10 points, ranking 7th.

Coach Joe, who failed to secure a win for Chonburi in their last eight games, comprising five draws and three losses, is the fifth manager to leave a team in the Thai League this season. Other managers who have resigned include "Coach Ong" Dusit Chalermsan of Phalangkan FC, Supachai Komsilp of BG Pathum United, Osmar Los Vieira of Buriram United, and Gino Lettieri of Uthai Thani FC.

In another match, "The Iron Horses of Kanchanaburi," Kanchanaburi FC, under new coach Joaquin Gomez, hosted "The Wild Elephants of Huai Kha Khaeng," Uthai Thani FC, who also introduced new coach Milos Jokic. The match ended in a 1-1 draw after Andros Townsend scored for Phalangkan and Bruno Baio equalized for Uthai Thani. Both teams ended the match with 10 players following red cards to Sergio Aguero and Marcelo Gnalo.
