Chalermchai Assures Pheu Thai-Bhumjaithai Conflict Won’t Affect Coalition Relations

Bangkok: Chalermchai Sri-on, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and leader of the Democrat Party, has stated that the ongoing conflict between the Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties does not threaten the stability of the coalition parties. He emphasized that judgments should be based on facts rather than prematurely choosing sides.

According to Thai News Agency, the conflict involves investigations into the Rancho golf course land owned by the Charnvirakul family and potential collusion in the election of Senators. Mr. Chalermchai remarked that he has not engaged in discussions on this matter. He maintained that if any wrongdoing is identified, it must be addressed through proper channels. Conversely, if no wrongdoing is found, the coalition should remain unaffected.

When pressed on whether the tensions could destabilize the government, Mr. Chalermchai suggested that the focus should be on the involved parties. He reiterated that as part of the coalition, his concern is to monitor the situation, noting there has been no impact thus far.

In response to rumors about the potential dissolution of parliament due to frequent issues among coalition partners, Mr. Chalermchai dismissed the speculation, indicating that such a scenario remains distant. He questioned the necessity of choosing sides, affirming that the coalition partners are fundamentally aligned.
