Bangkok: The Cabinet has appointed Buppha Ruangsut, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, as the new Social Security Secretary-General. The appointment was part of a series of strategic changes within the Ministry of Labor, including the transfer of Pichet Thongphan, Inspector-General, to the role of Director-General of the Department of Employment.
According to Thai News Agency, the Cabinet's decision was announced by Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office. He stated that Buppha Ruangsut's appointment follows the retirement of Marasri Chairangsi, the current Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, who will retire on October 1, 2025. Following her retirement, Marasri Chairangsi will take on the role of Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor.
Mr. Jirayu further explained that the Cabinet resolved to appoint Somchai Morakotsriwan, the current Director-General of the Department of Employment, as the new Inspector-General of the Ministry. In a related move, Pichet Thongphan, who previously held the position of Inspector-General of the Ministry of Labor, will assume the role of Director-General of the Department of Employment.
Additionally, the Cabinet appointed Sib Muenchai Phosin, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Employment, to the position of Inspector-General of the Ministry, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labor.
