Bangkok: Assumption Thonburi and Nakhon Sawan Municipality Sports School secured their places in the round of 16 at the GLO Cup 2025 following impressive performances on the first day of the tournament. Both teams excelled in the under-13 and under-15 age groups, earning straight wins in their respective matches.
According to Thai News Agency, the GLO Cup 2025, organized by the Government Lottery Office alongside the Thai Football Development Foundation, commenced with 32 youth teams in each age category, who were selected from over 672 teams across seven regions. The competition format required teams to compete in groups of four, with the top two teams advancing to the next round.
Assumption Thonburi displayed a commanding performance in the under-13 category at Thupatemi Stadium, defeating Ban Wang Taen School 9-0 and Rayong Wittayakom 4-0. Similarly, Nakhon Sawan Municipality Sports School earned victories against DARUNA FC and Nipasiri School, securing their advancement with a perfect score.
In the under-15 matches at Bangkadi Municipal Stadium, Assumption Thonburi continued their strong form by defeating RACHINUTHIT 2 SPORT PROGRAM and Nong Khao Kowit Pittayakhom School. Nakhon Sawan Municipality Sports School mirrored this success with wins over the same opponents, ensuring both teams advanced with a full 6 points.
Taksin Rayong Secondary School and Kanthararam School also advanced to the round of 16 after winning two consecutive matches in Group C. The remaining teams will await the outcome of the final group matches to determine their fate in the tournament. The competition will proceed with the knockout stages, culminating in the finals at Supachalasai Stadium, where the best youth team in the country will be decided.
