Chiang Rai: Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, confirmed that the army is committed to providing comprehensive assistance to flood victims in Chiang Rai Province. The military has been ready to respond since the onset of the flooding, ensuring that any nearby units are deployed to assist immediately.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham emphasized the army's proactive measures, highlighting the involvement of the Director of the Department of Military Engineering, who has been present in the affected area. Troops have been working tirelessly, constructing embankments around the clock to mitigate the flood's impact. The 37th Army Regiment has also been actively engaged in these efforts.
Mr. Phumtham reported having discussions with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, who confirmed the soldiers' full-scale intervention. On the previous day, the Chiang Rai governor collaborated with military units, executing pre-planned strategies to manage the flooding. The military's preparedness and resource allocation underscore its commitment to addressing this critical situation, deemed a priority disaster management issue.
