Anutin-Sabida Announce Measures to Support Thai Muslims’ Hajj Pilgrimage

Bangkok: "Anutin-Sabida" announced their readiness to facilitate those traveling to perform the Hajj pilgrimage in the year 2568 (1446 A.H.), introducing measures by the Ministry of Interior to help reduce costs without compromising quality, under the initiative of "Hajj 5G 5Good" aimed at developing a fair and widespread Hajj business.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, revealed the plans at a press conference held at the Ratchasi Conference Room, Ministry of Interior City Hall Building. Mr. Anutin, as Chairman of the Hajj Promotion Committee of Thailand, emphasized the importance of the pilgrimage for Muslims and assured that the Ministry is committed to supporting Thai Muslims in fulfilling this religious obligation.

Mr. Anutin highlighted the Ministry's commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that all Thai people, irrespective of race or religion, benefit equally. Ms. Sabida presented guidelines for facilitating the Hajj pilgrimage, which were approved by the Cabinet in February 2015. These guidelines aim to enhance safety and convenience for pilgrims, including adding flights at Hat Yai and Narathiwat Airports.

The measures introduced by the Ministry have successfully reduced the Hajj pilgrimage expenses for Thai Muslims to approximately 180,000 baht, down from previous costs of up to 300,000 baht. This significant reduction ensures that pilgrims can perform their religious duties without financial burden or fear of exploitation.

Ms. Sabida announced that 6,603 Thai pilgrims will participate in the 2025 Hajj under the "Hajj 5G 5Good" concept, which prioritizes Good Price, Good Service, Good Care, Good Health, and Good Relations. The cost per pilgrim has been reduced to between 173,000 and 187,000 baht, thanks to negotiations to lower service fees and airfare. The Ministry also plans to cap Hajj expenses at 195,000 baht per person from 2026 onwards and will facilitate registration at district offices nationwide.

The press conference was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Interior and the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC), as well as members of the House of Representatives, media, and other stakeholders.
