HONG KONG, July 14, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — On July 14, 2023, Banle Energy International Limited, a subsidiary of CBL International Limited (NASDAQ: BANL) (the “Company”), partnering with ASB Biodiesel (Hong Kong) Limited and Seven Seas Oil (Hong Kong) Limited completed our very first B24 biofuel bunkering operation in Hong Kong, with Saybolt as an international independent inspection and testing service provider to monitor the whole process in order to ensure both quality and quantity.

Our Company has taken the initiative to support our efforts towards the 2023 IMO Greenhouse Gas Strategy (the “Strategy”), which was adopted at the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 80) in early July. The Strategy sets ambitious targets for the shipping industry to reduce the total annual greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions from international shipping by at least 20% and 70%, with a goal of achieving 30% and 80% by 2030 and 2040 respectively, compared to 2008 levels. In line with our direction focusing on ESG, we are committed to promote Biofuel, an ESG related product, in an effort to reduce GHG emissions.

Biofuels are being promoted as one of the low-carbon alternatives to the existing fossil oils as they could help to reduce GHG emissions and the related climate change impact from the shipping industry.

A proactive culture is part of our DNA, even back in 2019, our Company was one of the first movers in promoting and supplying very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) to our clients, ahead of the “IMO 2020” regulation that was implemented in 2020. Today, we again have taken the initiative in introducing B24 biofuel bunkering in Hong Kong.

Teck Lim Chia, our Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, said: “B24 biofuel bunkering operation in Hong Kong is a significant step forward for our contribution of environmental sustainability and for the shipping industry’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions. This sets the stage for the Hong Kong bunkering industry to use biofuels as a means to play its part for decarbonization.”

Vytelle Expands to Brisbane, Australia with Sixteenth Global Bovine In Vitro Fertilisation Laboratory

BRISBANE, Australia,, July 13, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Vytelle, a precision livestock company, is progressing on their five-year plan to provide accessible, hormone-free, bovine in vitro fertilisation to producers across the globe. Announced today, Vytelle has expanded to Brisbane, Australia with its sixteenth global laboratory.

Vytelle’s integrated technology platform combines Vytelle ADVANCE, a breakthrough in vitro fertilisation (IVF) technology, with Vytelle SENSE, an animal performance data capture system, and Vytelle INSIGHT, an artificial intelligence based genetic analytics engine.  The platform provides progressive cattle producers the technology to make reliable data-driven mating decisions that improve the predictability of genetic progress, replicating the right genetics faster.

The Brisbane-based, Australia laboratory brings accessibility to modern reproduction technology like never before to Australia’s eastern states’ beef herds. Vytelle’s hormone-free in vitro fertilisation process, including their proprietary media, will deliver high-quality embryos to producers allowing them to make more valuable calves, faster to maximise sustainability.

“Vytelle is the fastest growing bovine IVF company in the world,” commented Kerryann Kocher, CEO of Vytelle. She continued, “We are thrilled to open our doors in Brisbane, positioning Vytelle to serve 70% of the total beef herd in Australia from this location.”

Vytelle has a long history in Australia through its Vytelle SENSE phenotypic data capture technology to measure and select for feed efficiency. With this investment, Vytelle is positioned to help Australian producers improve efficiencies and make faster genetic progress across the supply chain to consistently market more efficient and sustainable beef. “The large-scale adoption of IVF will be driven by the successful use of frozen embryos,” stated Andrew Donoghue, Regional Manager for Australia and New Zealand. He continued, “Unlike other technologies, the Vytelle system allows us to deliver frozen results producers can count on, providing reliable IVF to herds historically underserved with fresh programs.”

Response to World Health Organization Reviews of Aspartame

BRUSSELS, Belgium, July 13, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — In response to two World Health Organization (WHO) evaluations of aspartame, one of the most thoroughly researched ingredients in the world, released today, the International Sweeteners Association (ISA) applauds the WHO’s reaffirmation of aspartame’s safety by its leading scientific body responsible for evaluating the safety of food additives, the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA). These conclusions are consistent with the findings of over 90 global food safety agencies who have confirmed aspartame’s safety, including the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), that has reviewed aspartame twice, and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

“JECFA has once again reaffirmed aspartame’s safety after conducting a thorough, comprehensive and scientifically rigorous review” said ISA Secretary General Frances Hunt-Wood. “Aspartame, like all low/no calorie sweeteners, when used as part of a balanced diet, provides consumers with choice to reduce sugar intake, a critical public health objective.”

As part of its comprehensive assessment, reconfirming the safety of aspartame, JECFA examined IARC’s conclusions and found no concern for human health. Importantly, IARC is not a food safety body and its 2B classification does not consider intake levels nor actual risk, making an IARC review far less comprehensive than the thorough reviews conducted by food safety bodies like JECFA and potentially confusing for consumers.

To put this in context, IARC’s 2B classification puts aspartame in the same category as kimchi and other pickled vegetables. IARC would be the first to say that they don’t suggest people should stop using kimchi at meals.

As part of an overall healthy diet and lifestyle, aspartame can be used to further public health objectives on sugar intake reduction and ultimately assist in weight and diabetes management, as well as with dental health.

Vietnam to play Thailand for AFF women’s U19 title on July 15

Coach Akira of Vietnam said his team will compete for the trophy of the AFF Women’s U19 Football Championship on July 15 after their semi-final win on July 13 in Palembang, Indonesia.

Vietnam came from behind to beat arch-rival Myanmar 2-1 in the last match which lasted 120 minutes for extra time.

After the first 10 minutes of sussing each other out, Myanmar opened the score when forward Yin Loon Eain prized the ball from a mishap between Vietnamese goalkeeper Kieu My and her defenders and shot straight to the net.

Vietnam opened consecutive attacks to narrow the score. Coach Akira made several changes in the first half to strengthen his front line.

Ngoc Minh Chuyen brought his plan to fruition in the 43rd minute with a close-range header. It was Chuyen’s fifth goal at the tournament and it pushed her to the top place of the best scorer table.

Myanmar upped possession in the second half forcing Akira to make more changes to keep the match balanced. Chuyen and her teammate Luu Hoang Van had their chances but failed to score in the official time.

Players had to compete in the extra time. After many efforts, Le Thi Trang broke through Myanmar’s defence to find the back of the net at the 104th minute, wrapping up the win for Vietnam.

Speaking to a reporter, Chuyen said: “It was a difficult match but we made it. We’ll do better in the final and win. We are tired after this long semi-final but our spirit is 100 per cent ready”.

Coach Akira added that his players showed great effort through difficulties. Myanmar was under a Japanese technical director who was given a surprise by his opponent. Vietnam conceded a goal first but fought back successfully and won.

He said there was still a match ahead for Vietnam. The final was his team’s target. Whoever makes the final will have a tough match and Vietnamese players must be very careful and focused.

Vietnam will take on Thailand, which overwhelmed host Indonesia 7-1 in the other semis on July 13, in the final at the Gelora Sriwijaya on July 15.

Thawanrat Promthongmee scored a hattrick at the 15th, 31st and 70th minutes. Anaphon Amanpong scored twice at the 29th and 47th while Chattaya Pratumkul and Natcha Kaewanta netted one each at the 63rd and 88th minutes, respectively.

Indonesia’s only goal of the game came through Claudia Scheneumann in the 24th minute. They will play Myanmar in the third-place playoff./.

Former Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee gets disciplinary measures

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on July 14 signed a decision on disciplinary measures against Dinh Quoc Thai, former Chairman of the People’s Committee of the southern province of Dong Nai.

Specifically, Thai’s status as Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee for the 2011-2016 and 2016-2021 terms was removed for his violations in his work.

Earlier, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat had also imposed disciplinary measures against him.

On December 16, 2022, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of the Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat to consider disciplinary measures against Thai, who was also former Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and former Secretary of the Party delegation to the provincial People’s Committee.

After considering the proposal of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, the Politburo and the Secretariat found that Thai showed degradation in political ideology, morality and lifestyle; received bribes; violated the Party’s regulations and the State’s laws in performing his assigned duties and tasks; infringed on the regulations on what a Party member is not allowed to do and the responsibility of setting an example, resulting in very serious consequences that are unfixable, causing great losses to State property, stirring public outrage, and adversely affecting the reputation of the local Party Organisation and authorities.

FM meets with foreign counterparts on sidelines of AMM-56

Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son met with his foreign counterparts on the sidelines of the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-56) and related meetings in Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 14.

At a meeting with Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape, Son affirmed that Vietnam wants to strengthen relations with South Pacific island countries, including Papua New Guinea, saying ample room remains for the bilateral cooperation, especially in economy, trade, agriculture and fisheries.

For his part, Marape said Papua New Guinea welcomes Vietnamese businesses to invest in fisheries, agriculture, and oil and gas, and that the country will send delegations of officials and businesses to the Southeast Asian nation to explore cooperation opportunities.

Son proposed the two sides study the establishment of appropriate cooperation mechanisms and implement the already-signed memorandum of understanding on fishery cooperation, including the formation of a joint technical committee. He also suggested promoting negotiations and signing relevant documents in other key areas, which will serve as a basis for further collaboration.

Speaking highly of Papua New Guinea’s contributions as ASEAN’s special observer, Son stressed that the two sides should continue their close coordination and mutual support at regional and international forums, especially within ASEAN-led mechanisms, the United Nations, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

Meeting with Canadian FM Mélanie Joly, the two ministers highly valued the positive development of the Vietnam-Canada comprehensive partnership over the past years, agreed on the need to put forth new orientations that match the regional and international situation as well as the level of their relations.

Son lauded the Canadian government’s Indo-Pacific Strategy that highlights ASEAN’s centrality, and agreed that the implementation of the strategy will open up new cooperation opportunities between Canada and ASEAN in general, and Vietnam in particular.

For her part, Joly affirmed that Vietnam is one of Canada’s top three priority partners in the region, saying the two sides will promote all-level delegation exchanges, further tap their economic and trade potential through the materialisation of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and consider expanding cooperation in such spheres as green energy and clean energy, and maritime collaboration.

Son suggested Canada create more favourable conditions and provide more scholarships for Vietnamese students, while supporting Vietnamese citizens to live, study and work in the country, thus contributing to the development of Canada as well as the bilateral friendship.

On this occasion, Son also had a meeting with Turkish FM Hakan Fidan, during which the two ministers consented to step up all-level delegation exchanges, effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms, better optimise cooperation potential, and enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

He called on Turkish firms to increase investments in Vietnam, especially in the reciprocal fields.

Fidan said Vietnam’s dispatch of forces to aid Turkey following the devastating earthquake last February vividly demonstrated their friendship, noting both sides consider this an important premise to boost their relations in the time ahead.

The two ministers also compared notes on regional and international issues of shared concern.

At a meeting with Sri Lankan FM Ali Sabry, the two ministers affirmed they treasure the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

They agreed to take measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation in different fields in the coming time.

Son proposed the two sides increase the exchange of all-level delegations and further promote economic- trade-cultural ties and people-to-people exchanges.

Sabry urged Vietnam to support Sri Lanka to join regional economic cooperation frameworks, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

The two ministers concurred to soon resume bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the political consultation at the deputy foreign minister level.

On July 13, Son had a brief meeting with Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anniken Huitfeldt, during which they agreed to increase all-level delegation exchanges and closely coordinate in promoting the bilateral trade and investment ties.

Huitfeldt said Norway stands ready to help Vietnam in energy transition and climate change response.

They also agreed to enhance coordination at regional and international mechanisms and forums./.

For his part, Warnery affirmed that France attaches importance to the bilateral strategic partnership, and stands ready to foster the relationship, making it more intensive and extensive.
