FDA Pre-Submission Filed for Cardio inCode-SCORE

Commencement of regulatory pathway for U.S. market approval

OXFORD, England, Jan. 11, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — GENinCode Plc (AIM: GENI), the predictive genetics company focused on the prevention of cardiovascular disease, announces the filing of its Pre-Submission for Cardio inCode-SCORE with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Cardio inCode-SCORE is an in-vitro diagnostic test that assesses an individual’s combined genetic and clinical risk to predict and prevent cardiovascular disease (“CVD”).

Following extensive exchange of information and constructive discussions with the FDA, GENinCode has been invited by the FDA to file its Pre-Submission for Cardio inCode-SCORE. This marks the commencement of the regulatory pathway for U.S. market approval, which is anticipated later this year. The FDA views Pre-Submission as a structured process for managing and tracking interactions between manufacturers and the FDA about the application for approval or clearance, prior to final submission. It is an interactive process designed to give the opportunity to obtain FDA feedback on the application with the goal of making the end submission process more efficient.

Matthew Walls, CEO of GENinCode Plc, said: “Despite the delays driven by the pandemic, the filing of the Cardio inCode FDA Pre-Submission marks the start of the U.S. regulatory approval pathway and ongoing preparation for the launch of Cardio inCode-SCORE later this year. Recognition of inherited genetic contribution to the onset of cardiovascular disease continues to grow. We are well placed to improve the CVD standard of care by identifying individuals at high genetic risk who can be advised on lifestyle choices and access to personalised treatment to improve future health outcomes.”

GENinCode specialises in polygenic risk assessment of CVD, the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. CVD is a broad disease classification that encompasses conditions such as coronary artery disease (causing angina, heart attack and heart failure), cerebrovascular disease (causing stroke, and some dementia), peripheral vascular disease (causing limb ischaemia, and some chronic kidney disease) and venous thromboembolism. CVD accounts for an estimated 17.9 million deaths globally each year and accounts for one in every four deaths in the United States. By 2030, the global cost of CVD is set to rise from approximately US$863 billion in 2010 to US$1,044 billion and is both a major health issue and global economic burden.

Zoom Becomes the First Video Communications Client to Attain Common Criteria Certification

Issued by the German Federal Office for Information Security, the Certification Reinforces Zoom’s Commitment to Security

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 10, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZM) today announced that Zoom Meeting Client version 5.6.6 has become the first video communications client to attain certification for Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (v3.1 rev. 5), issued by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).

Common Criteria is an international standard for objectively evaluating that an IT product satisfies a defined set of security requirements. The evaluation involves analyzing a specific set of security targets, including guidance documentation, architectural design, life cycle aspects, testing and vulnerability assessment. The Zoom Meeting Client v5.6.6 has been evaluated by the BSI against the Common Criteria standard and found to exhibit a clear chain of evidence that the process of specification, implementation, and evaluation has been conducted in a rigorous and standard manner.

Mutually recognized in more than 25 countries including the UK, US, Canada, and Germany, Common Criteria is regarded as a leading benchmark for IT product security certification. A growing number of users expect IT vendors to produce trusted and reliable evidence for the cybersecurity capabilities of their products.

“This Common Criteria certification represents a major milestone for Zoom,” said Jason Lee, Chief Information Security Officer at Zoom. “We’re the first video communications client to receive this important certification, reinforcing our commitment to our customers. Security and privacy are the cornerstones of everything we do, and we are continually innovating secure solutions for all users of our platform.”

At present, the BSI has certified Zoom version 5.6.6 for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. While version 5.6.6 was the version of Zoom client available at the time of the certification, we always recommend customers utilize the newest version of the client to take advantage of Zoom’s latest security updates and features.

“The Common Criteria certification is a global benchmark in cybersecurity,” said Sandro Amendola, Head of Standardization/Certification/Telecommunications Networks Security Department, BSI. “The Zoom client demonstrated a high security standard across its product, successfully completing one of the most demanding evaluation procedures a company can undertake.”

Omicron: Depok Mayor asks residents to remain calm, but alert

Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris has asked people to remain calm but cautious following the detection of the Omicron variant in four residents.

“People still have to follow the COVID-19 health protocols when doing activities outside their homes,” he said in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.

According to the central government’s order, issued through the Home Affairs Ministry, on Level 2 community activity restrictions in the Greater Jakarta area, which includes Depok, the public must follow the health protocols, he added.

Idris said that his administration does not want to lock down areas, and instead has issued a circular on adherence to health protocols.

Currently, his administration is also preparing a plan to anticipate the spread of Omicron in Depok, he added.

He revealed that no lockdown was implemented even after four people were found to be infected with the Omicron variant because the patients had been isolated.

“Thank God, the residents with Depok ID cards have been isolated, so we can say it’s safe,” the mayor remarked.

It was earlier reported that six Depok residents had been exposed to the Omicron variant, but Idris confirmed that there were only four cases detected in Depok.

The first patient had traveled outside the country and was quarantined in Jakarta immediately after he was confirmed positive for Omicron and did not come to Depok, he informed.

The second patient also contracted Omicron after traveling overseas, he said. The third patient was a Depok resident who traveled from East Java, he added.

The fourth patient was the grandmother of the third patient, the mayor said.

The third and fourth patients recovered after three days of isolation because both of them had been vaccinated, he added002E

Prabowo asks officers to expedite vaccinations for elderly, children

National Police chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has directed all ranks to work together with related parties to accelerate COVID-19 vaccinations for the elderly and children so the 70-percent immunization target can be reached.

“The elderly vaccination coverage is at 60 percent. We are also pursuing children’s vaccination aged 6 to 11 years. We have targeted several areas to be able to complete this within two weeks to reach 100 percent,” Prabowo said in a written statement here on Tuesday.

The police chief directed all ranks to ramp up vaccinations while reviewing a vaccination drive at the Graha Wangsa Building in Lampung.

Accelerating vaccinations among the elderly and children is important considering that the 100-percent face-to-face learning (PTM) policy has been implemented, he said.

Boosting vaccinations among these groups can also minimize the risk of transmission of the coronavirus, which has been able to mutate into several variants, he explained.

Prabowo also highlighted the emergence of the new COVID-19 variant called Omicron in Indonesia. Most of the Omicron cases have been detected in foreign travelers entering Indonesia, he noted.

The Omicron variant can infect people who have been vaccinated, he pointed out. However, its fatality rate among vaccinated people is seen lower than the Delta variant, he noted. However, the severity of infection is much higher in unvaccinated people, he added.

“We also need to take care of vulnerable groups of people, such as the elderly and those who have comorbidities and cannot get vaccinated,” Prabowo said.

To minimize the severe impact of the Omicron variant, he appealed to people to immediately visit the vaccine outlets that have been prepared by the local government. In addition, he asked the regional police chiefs to cooperate with the Indonesia Defense Forces (TNI), and the regional National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) to convince families to get vaccinated.

He also asked police ranks to educate the public regarding the importance of vaccinations and the implementation of health protocols. The local government and the police must also carry out tracing and testing activities if there are clusters in the area, he added.

Prabowo said he hoped that regions with vaccination coverage above 70 percent would immediately move forward to achieve 100-percent vaccinations. Some regions have set their own targets for achieving 100-percent vaccination coverage, which range from one month, two weeks, to less than 10 days, he noted.

“That is why I ask other regions whose achievements are still below 70 or already 70, but the elderly vaccination has not reached 60 percent, moreover, in children and teenagers vaccination. Please improve,” he added.

Indonesia has adequate booster vaccine stock: Moeldoko

Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko affirmed that the government’s stock of the third dose of the COVID-19 booster vaccine was sufficient and had not expired.

“We have a sufficient supply of vaccines. The health minister had reported to President Joko Widodo about the vaccine stock and will make immediate efforts to distribute the vaccine,” Moeldoko noted on Tuesday.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had earlier announced the commencement of the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine booster on January 12, 2022.

The booster vaccine will be given free to all Indonesians while prioritizing the elderly and vulnerable groups.

“Several vaccines that expired on that date will be used first,” Moeldoko noted.

He spoke of the government having readied several strategies to disseminate information to administer the booster vaccine.

“We give vaccine stock quotas of 25 percent to the National Police, 25 percent to the Indonesia Defense Forces (TNI), 25 percent to the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and 25 percent to the Ministry of Health. Every element works together in order to administer the booster vaccine,” he noted.

Moeldoko remarked that the Indonesian government had currently administered 284 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, though the stocks were not evenly distributed.

“Four regions — Papua, West Papua, Aceh, and Maluku — need to push their vaccination coverage,” he noted.

Moeldoko urged the public to participate in receiving the booster vaccine since the new variant of COVID-19 called Omicron had emerged in Indonesia.

The government will provide five types of vaccines that have received Emergency Use Authorization from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) as a vaccine booster: Sinovac/Coronavac, Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Zificav.

Based on data from the Ministry of Health on Tuesday at 18:00 local time, 171,445,921 people had received the first dose of vaccination, while 117,650,566 of them had been fully vaccinated with the second dose.

Meanwhile, 1,329,884 health workers in Indonesia had been administered the booster vaccine.

West Java residents asked to remain calm amid Omicron threat

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil on Tuesday appealed to the public not to panic and remain alert amid the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the province.

The Omicron variant is indeed much more contagious than the Delta variant, he noted. However, Omicron has lower severity, he added.

Kamil reminded the people to always implement the health protocols, including wearing masks, to avoid virus transmission.

“So we need to stay alert, but do not worry too much. Hopefully, with our vigilance, we can control the spread of Omicron,” he said.

The West Java provincial government has continued to intensify testing, tracing, and follow-up (3T), he informed. This is an effort to detect early transmission in people exposed to the Omicron variant, he explained.

“We are still carrying out 3T activities, especially testing and tracing, among residents who have just returned from abroad. People returning from abroad are our main priority in 3T,” he said.

Until now, at least 14 residents with West Java Identity Cards (KTP) have been exposed to the Omicron variant, Kamil informed.

Of the 14 patients, 10 are undergoing isolation at Wisma Atlet, Jakarta, and the remaining four have been quarantined in Bandung district, he said.

“There are 10 people who were detected at the airport, and are currently, undergoing quarantine in Wisma Atlet Jakarta, and four suspected people are in Bandung district. That is based on our tracking. We can assure you, these Omicron cases come from an overseas trip,” he added.

He said his administration is now investigating the origins of the infection in four suspected patients in Bandung district.

On December 16, 2021, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin had informed that the first case of the Omicron variant had been detected in Indonesia at the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) Wisma Atlet in Jakarta, which is among the quarantine facilities for people returning from abroad.
