Nakhon phanom: Young people stabbed each other in the middle of a Naga worship ceremony in the center of Nakhon Phanom city, resulting in one injury.
According to Thai News Agency, more than 50 teenagers were involved in the altercation during a ceremony to honor the Phraya Satta Nakarat. The incident took place in the middle of Nakhon Phanom city, causing panic among tourists and vendors. The festival, held at the Morlam stage in front of Wat Klang along the Mekong River on Sunthon Wichit Road, was disrupted on its final night.
A 17-year-old teenager was injured during the melee. The victim, who was stabbed below the navel, stated that he was unaware of the group of teenagers who attacked him. He was preparing to leave the festival when he was suddenly assaulted by more than 50 teenagers. One individual from the group approached him and inflicted the stab wound without any apparent provocation. The teenagers fled the scene along the Mekong River road and reportedly changed their clothes to avoid detection.
Pol. Lt. Col. Thanin Kanphai, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Mueang Nakhon Phanom Police Station, responded to the report of the knife assault. He proceeded to investigate the scene and checked on the victim's condition at the hospital. Medical professionals indicated that the wound did not penetrate any vital organs. Authorities are actively gathering evidence and pursuing the suspects to ensure they face legal consequences.
