Young Entrepreneur Balances Education and Business with Roti Shop

Maha Sarakham: A university student in Maha Sarakham is making headlines for successfully juggling his studies and running a small business to support his family. Sorat Nam Sai, a 20-year-old second-year accounting student at Maha Sarakham University, has opened a roti shop named 'Ayu Noi Roi Roti', where he works part-time after school hours.

According to Thai News Agency, Sorat, alongside his mother and younger sister, operates the shop on the side of Si Sawat Damnoen Road, offering a diverse range of both savory and sweet rotis. His journey into entrepreneurship began after returning home to Maha Sarakham from Phuket, where he previously worked for a tour company. The COVID-19 pandemic prompted his return, leading him to explore new ways of earning income. Drawing on recipes from the South and insights gathered from social media, Sorat decided to open his own roti shop.

The shop boasts a wide array of more than 30 roti varieties, including regular roti, bomb roti, banana roti, cheese roti, mataba roti, pizza roti, and curry roti, along with over 10 different toppings. Prices range from 13 baht to 89 baht, and the shop generates a daily income of around 2,000-3,000 baht. 'Ayu Noi Roi Roti' operates from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., remaining closed on Saturdays. Sorat's initiative not only contributes financially to his family but also supports his educational aspirations.
