Woman Arrested for Transporting Methamphetamine Pills on Passenger Bus

Surat Thani: Surat Thani police have arrested a 38-year-old woman for transporting hundreds of thousands of methamphetamine pills on a passenger bus to deliver to a customer in Phuket Province. The woman confessed to having carried out this operation four times, receiving a payment of 80,000 baht for each delivery.

According to Thai News Agency, the arrest was conducted by Pol. Col. Pornnarong Karn-onchai, Superintendent of Surat Thani City Police Station, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Yot Chaowarao, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, and officers from the Surat Thani City Police Station's investigation unit and the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) of Surat Thani Province. The suspect, Ms. Puangkruea, also known as Name, was found with evidence of 101,000 methamphetamine pills.

The arrest came after a tip-off from an informant, who reported that Ms. Puangkrua had been hired to transport drugs from the North to customers in Phuket via a Phuket-Mae Sot bus. The officers searched her while she was at the parking lot of the Surat Thani Cooperative in Village 3, Nong Sai Subdistrict, Phunphin District, where they found the evidence at her feet and seized it for examination.

During the investigation, Ms. Puangkruea admitted that the evidence belonged to her. She revealed that she was instructed by an individual named Mr. Bang to collect the drugs from the border area, receiving 80,000 baht per delivery. This was her fourth operation before being apprehended by the authorities.

The suspect was taken to the Surat Thani City Police Station for processing on charges of selling Category 1 narcotics, including methamphetamine and ecstasy pills, by illegally possessing them for sale, distributing them for commercial purposes, causing their spread among the public, and using methamphetamine illegally.
