Bangkok: Mr. Wisut Chainarun, a Member of Parliament for the Pheu Thai Party and chairman of the Government Coalition Coordination Committee, has expressed skepticism regarding a Nida Poll survey that revealed 34.58% of the public were dissatisfied with the government's performance. He raised concerns about the poll's methodology, questioning the demographics and location of the respondents. He suggested that while dissatisfaction may be prevalent among certain groups, particularly in Bangkok, farmers in his constituency are content, having received financial support from the government.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisut highlighted that the main season rice prices are expected to be favorable, although there might be minor issues with off-season rice. He also pointed out that the prices of rubber and palm oil have increased significantly, benefiting the agricultural sector. He acknowledged that while some challenges persist, efforts are underway to resolve them and expressed confidence in the government's ability to address these issues.
Mr. Wisut also addressed concerns about the Ministry of Commerce, which has faced criticism over rice pricing. He attributed some of the challenges to external factors, such as India's role as a major rice producer, which has impacted export opportunities due to high taxes. He assured that the Ministry of Commerce is actively working on solutions and emphasized that while problems exist, they are manageable and being addressed.
