Wisut Confident in Smooth Discussion of 2026 Budget Expenditure Act

Bangkok: Mr. Wisut Chainarun, MP for the Pheu Thai Party and chairman of the Government Coalition Party Coordination Committee, expressed confidence that the coalition parties will prioritize national interest in their discussions on the 2026 Budget Expenditure Act. He dismissed claims of internal conflict, emphasizing that previous meetings have shown strong cooperation among parties.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisut addressed concerns about alleged budget concealment for electoral purposes. He assured that every party and department involved in reviewing the budget bill will work collectively to ensure transparency. He urged against focusing on party affiliations and instead emphasized the importance of safeguarding the national budget. Mr. Wisut highlighted that any unnecessary expenditures must be eliminated to ensure fiscal responsibility.

Mr. Wisut refuted claims of budget allocation for political gains, attributing such rumors to attempts at inciting conflict during a time of political crisis. He addressed Mr. Natcha Boonchaiinsawat's assertion regarding increased defense spending, explaining that decisions, particularly concerning military purchases, are made with careful consideration to avoid wasteful expenditures.

He reaffirmed his commitment to facilitating a smooth debate process for the budget bill, noting that the parties involved are united in their intention to pass the budget. Mr. Wisut highlighted ongoing dialogues between key leaders, including Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra and Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, as evidence of continued collaboration within the coalition.
