Mueang District: "Wichit" battles fiercely in the Sisaket Provincial Administrative Organization elections, expressing concerns about the Pheu Thai Party leader's involvement, while dismissing the value of his competitors. He remains confident but acknowledges the influence of the Pheu Thai leader, who is not considered an ordinary contender. Meanwhile, "Traisulee" criticizes "Thaksin's" slogan for chasing rats and beating cobras, suggesting it should be reserved for the general election campaign.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wichit Traisaranakul, a candidate for mayor of Sisaket Provincial Administrative Organization, campaigned with his team, including his daughter Ms. Traisulee Traisaranakul, in an area where Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister, was scheduled to appear. The campaign took place near Chiao Kee Restaurant, the venue for Mr. Shinawatra's breakfast before his subsequent speeches in Sisaket Province.
Mr. Wichit commented on Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra's campaign activities, stating that while he does not hold his former rivals in high regard, the presence of a significant political leader in the campaign is unprecedented. "I admit that I am worried because the people who come are not ordinary people. But as a person from Sisaket, I will try to see what our local group can overcome. Whether it is keeping up with the current or the bullets, I think we will fight with all our might," he said.
Mr. Wichit shared that despite the competitive atmosphere acknowledged by Mr. Thaksin, he feels confident in the support he has from the people of Sisaket. He believes that, at present, there is no disadvantage, and the scores remain close. He plans to bolster his campaign efforts once the "big boss" returns and remains optimistic about his chances of winning.
Addressing the local political landscape, Mr. Wichit emphasized the importance of local governance and their duty to act within the framework of local administration laws. He stressed the need for proximity to the people and solving both personal and public issues.
Ms. Traisuree Traisaranakul addressed her affiliation with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, clarifying that her father is independent of the party. She expressed gratitude towards Mr. Anutin's support and reiterated her father's long-standing political involvement before the party's establishment. She urged voters to distinguish between her and her father's political identities, reaffirming her commitment to assisting her father's campaign.
In response to Mr. Thaksin's policy proposal for a new Provincial Administrative Organization president, Ms. Traisulee highlighted the need for careful consideration of potential changes and the risks involved. She expressed gratitude for Mr. Thaksin's recognition of Sisaket's progress, which she attributed to collective efforts.
Regarding Mr. Thaksin's campaign rhetoric of chasing rats and beating cobras, Ms. Traisulee reiterated her father's independent political journey and his reliance on local support rather than party affiliations. She suggested that such slogans are best suited for broader election campaigns rather than the local political context.
