Warning for the East and South, West Coast: Heavy Rain in Some Areas

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department warns of heavy rain in some areas of the Eastern region and the Western coast of the Southern region, which may cause flash floods and mudslides.

According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department forecasts that in the next 24 hours, Thailand will experience thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas, with very heavy rain in some areas of the Eastern region and the Western coast of the Southern region. People in these regions should be cautious of the dangers posed by heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated precipitation, which can lead to flash floods and forest runoff, particularly on hillsides near waterways and in low-lying areas. Farmers are advised to prepare protective measures to prevent damage to crops. This weather condition is attributed to the moderate monsoon trough moving through the upper northern region and upper Laos into the low-pressure cell along the coast of northern Vietnam, coupled with the strong southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea and the Southern region.

For the Andaman Sea, waves are expected to be quite strong, ranging from 2-3 meters high, and could exceed 3 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. In the Gulf of Thailand, waves are anticipated to be 1-2 meters high, potentially reaching over 2 meters in stormy areas. Sailors in both the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in regions affected by thunderstorms. Small boats in the Andaman Sea should remain ashore.

The regional weather forecast for various parts of Thailand indicates thunderstorms in 60-80% of the areas, with varying temperatures and wind conditions. Bangkok and surrounding areas, the Northern region, the Northeastern region, the Central region, the Eastern region, and the Southern regions are all expected to experience thunderstorms and heavy rain in specific areas, with detailed temperature and wind forecasts provided for each region.
