Sa Kaeo: Commander of Provincial Police Region 2 orders strict control of 3 border provinces "Sa Kaeo - Chanthaburi - Trat", maintaining forces, screening at every point, preventing incidents. On June 9, 2025, Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos Thepjamnong, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, issued urgent directives to all police stations within the region, focusing on the eastern border provinces of Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat. This move comes in response to the security situation in the Chong Bok area of Ubon Ratchathani Province and aims to enhance border security through force retention, rigorous screening, and strict law enforcement to safeguard sovereignty, protect residents, and bolster confidence in the border area.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos explained that these orders were in alignment with directives from Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the national police chief. The focus is on intensifying monitoring and intercepting potential violent incidents, especially along the Cambodia border. These areas have been designated as 'special surveillance areas,' prompting the deployment of forces from various units, including the Highway Police, Border Patrol Police, and Special Operations Units. These units are tasked with setting up checkpoints and inspection points to scrutinize vehicles and individuals on both major and minor routes, as well as at rest stops and suspicious residences.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos emphasized a proactive approach, urging close investigation of local intelligence, strategic planning for incidents, and systematic support for all unit missions. An 'Investigation-Quick Response-Special Tactics Team' has been established to operate in key areas such as flea markets, bus stations, tourist spots, and crowded locations to instill public confidence. Coordination with local administrations, security officers, and security guards is also underway, with instructions for all patrol and traffic officers to utilize flashing lights for clear identification and employ the 'Stop-Walk-Talk' tactic to engage with the community, fostering cooperation and understanding.
This initiative represents a proactive security measure designed to prevent illegal activities, wrongdoing, or violence in the area, ensuring that similar incidents do not recur. The Commander of Provincial Police Region 2 urged all officers to carry out their duties with utmost dedication to the people and the nation. Citizens are encouraged to report any useful information to the nearest police station or via the 24-hour hotline 191.
