Warawut Silpa-archa Extends Condolences and Support Amid Thai-Cambodian Border Conflict

Bangkok: "Warawut" expressed his condolences to the families of soldiers and the army who lost important personnel, emphasizing that the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and multidisciplinary teams will help vulnerable groups at shelters and those who are worried about their homes, and will provide compensation for the welfare rights of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the Disaster Relief Fund of the Prime Minister's Office.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, revealed that the Disaster Vulnerable Groups Administration Center (DDPC) reported on assistance efforts for vulnerable groups affected by the conflict in the Thai-Cambodian border area. The DDPC team in Ubon Ratchathani Province visited shelters to survey affected groups and provide immediate aid. It was found that 306 vulnerable individuals, including children, elderly, disabled people, and bedridden patients, were staying in 10 shelters in Det Udom District. These groups were registered, and the families of the injured were given support and advice on social welfare rights and assistance from the Disaster Victims Assistance Fund, Office of the Prime Minister. Despite these efforts, shelters still lack essential consumer goods such as food, water, and medical supplies. The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center is coordinating with local networks to provide these necessities.

The Surin Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center also reported visiting Surin Hospital to assist 13 victims. Officers from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security provided moral support and advice on temporary shelter arrangements and social welfare rights for those affected by the unrest.

Mr. Varawut expressed his deep condolences to the families who lost loved ones and to the Royal Thai Army for their loss of important personnel. He thanked the families of the brave soldiers and emphasized the Ministry's commitment to caring for vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and the disabled, at shelters across the province. The Ministry is working closely with provincial governors and multidisciplinary teams to provide support and ensure the safety of these groups.

The Ministry has coordinated with all parties, and a recent meeting of the Disaster Relief Fund Committee of the Prime Minister's Office approved criteria for assistance to those affected by the fighting. The assistance framework includes financial compensation for death, disability, and injuries, with specific amounts allocated for each category. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security will verify information, collect documents for aid disbursement, and coordinate with provincial governors to provide swift assistance.

The government is also encouraging donations to the Prime Minister's Office Disaster Relief Fund, with contributions accepted through a Krung Thai Bank account. Mr. Varawut urged Ministry team members to prioritize their safety while assisting others and offered encouragement to citizens and officers in border provinces to overcome the crisis.
