Villagers Urge Urgent Investigation into Drones Circling the Skies in Korat

Nakhon ratchasima: Drones were spotted flying over the city and several areas of Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Residents urged relevant agencies to investigate.

According to Thai News Agency, the Facebook page "Korat Ban Eng News Group" shared a video clip with several Facebook users in Nakhon Ratchasima Province showing lights from a drone circling the sky above Nakhon Ratchasima City, as the Thai government prepares to repatriate two injured Cambodian soldiers to Cambodia today (August 1).

A Facebook user named "Bootty Thanat" posted a clip of lights floating in the sky near Central Korat shopping center in Nai Mueang subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima district. The clip is believed to be the lights of two drones. A voice in the clip says, "Who's flying a drone? Hey... Korat doesn't allow it. Right here. It's near Central, near Central. They're blinking. You can see them here, here, here. That's right."

Additionally, in Wang Nam Khiao District, Udomsap Police Station officers received a report from community leaders in Villages 17, 7, and 12 that several suspicious drones were seen circling over Ban Non Khang, Village 7, Udomsap Subdistrict, Wang Nam Khiao District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This area is approximately 45 kilometers from the Pak Thong Chai Camp of the 26th Ranger Regiment. The drones were flying over three villages in Wang Nam Khiao District: Village 7, Non Khang, Village 12, Nong Waeng, and Village 17, Udomsap Phatthana. They immediately notified authorities to investigate. Villagers were concerned that spy drones might be in the area, as it is not far from a major military base. Furthermore, Wang Nam Khiao District is a major tourist destination in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. They monitored the village and community for drones and observed the skies to see if drones were flying over the village.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has announced a nationwide ban on drone flights for national safety and security following the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border. However, citizens have still encountered drones hovering over its airspace. The CAAT urges government agencies to expedite the investigation.
