Nong Khae: A sedan collided with a pickup truck and fell into a canal in the Nong Khae District of Saraburi Province, prompting an urgent search for a good Samaritan who went missing after attempting to rescue the involved drivers.
According to Thai News Agency, rescue workers from Sawang Rattanatraithammasathan Saraburi, Ruamkatanyu Foundation, and Por Tek Tung Nong Khae were able to assist the pickup truck driver, who was stranded on the right bank of the Raphiphat irrigation canal, before the vehicle sank. The incident was reported to the Nong Khae Police Station at 11:30 a.m., where it was detailed that a lime green sedan and a bronze-silver pickup truck lost control and plunged into the canal following a collision.
Upon their arrival, three good Samaritans entered the water to aid the trapped drivers. They managed to rescue the individuals and retrieve the sedan, though the pickup truck was carried away by the strong current and submerged. Tragically, one of the rescuers, Mr. Nattapol, 38, disappeared during the effort. Rescue teams from the involved foundations have deployed divers and flat-bottomed boats to locate Mr. Nattapol, but the search is challenged by the swift current.
The mother of the missing good citizen observed the search from the canal bank, expressing that her son, a general laborer, was always willing to help others regardless of familiarity. She remains uncertain about the circumstances leading to his drowning.
Ms. Ice, the sedan driver, recounted that after her vehicle fell into the canal, a good citizen helped her escape. He ensured her safety by assisting her to grab onto a clump of grass before he returned to help the pickup truck driver. Unfortunately, he was not seen again after going back into the water.
Mr. Anucha, 23, also assisted in the rescue. He described using a rock to break the pickup truck window and help its driver. During the rescue, he noted that three individuals, including himself, entered the water. The strong current quickly carried them away, and although he attempted to help another rescuer in a red shirt, the pickup truck ultimately sank, and the good Samaritan was seen raising his hand for help before disappearing.
