Don Mueang: A trailer truck transporting a backhoe became entangled with a transformer power line, leading to the vehicle crashing onto the roof of a nearby sedan and causing a significant power outage. Remarkably, the driver of the sedan managed to escape without injury by quickly opening the door.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred near Wat Phai Khiao in Don Mueang District when the trailer truck, while attempting a right turn, caught a transformer wire. The resulting mishap led to widespread power disruption in the area. Police officials promptly coordinated with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority to conduct a thorough inspection of the scene.
The sedan driver recounted that he was trailing the trailer at a safe distance. As he approached an intersection, he observed the trailer begin its right turn. During the maneuver, the arm of the backhoe attached to the trailer snagged a steel cable supporting an electric pole, causing it to collapse. Acting swiftly, the sedan driver moved to the passenger seat and exited the vehicle, successfully avoiding injury.
Law enforcement has summoned both drivers for further questioning at Don Mueang Police Station. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage to ascertain the cause of the accident and to determine any necessary legal actions.
