Bang bua thong: A 49-year-old man tragically lost his life while changing a tire on a six-wheeled vehicle when he was struck by a tractor-trailer. The accident occurred in front of a roadside shop on Highway 9, Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the Bang Bua Thong Police Station received a report last night regarding a multi-vehicle collision. The incident involved a truck and a trailer, resulting in two injuries and one fatality inside a vehicle. The collision took place on Highway 9, heading towards Bang Pa-in.
At the scene, a white Hino 6-wheel truck was parked for a tire change when it was hit by a dark pink Hino 22-wheel garbage truck, which crushed the smaller truck to the side. The front of the six-wheeled truck was completely destroyed, injuring the driver and a passenger. Rescue workers used cutting equipment to free the trapped individuals and transport them to the hospital.
The deceased was identified as Mr. Kitja, 49, an employee of the tire shop. He was struck by the 22-wheel garbage truck while changing a tire, resulting in his death. The force of the collision caused the white Hino 6-wheel truck to be thrown off the road, where it subsequently hit the back of a white Isuzu 10-wheel truck before crashing into an electric pole, damaging it severely. In total, four vehicles were involved in the accident, with the extent of the damage still under investigation.
Mr. Wisarut, 29, the driver of the six-wheel truck, stated that he had stopped for less than 15 minutes to change the tire when he witnessed the garbage truck crashing into the parked truck and hitting a shop employee. Despite the presence of bright lights and sirens, the tragedy occurred swiftly.
Police are currently reviewing evidence and nearby CCTV footage to determine the true cause of the accident.
