Bangkok: "Kung Suthirat" is heartbroken as a tragic accident claimed the life of a team member transporting equipment for the Likay troupe. The incident occurred when a car collided with the equipment transporters, causing one of them to fall off a bridge and die. The accident took place at the foot of the Chim Phli elevated road while the team was attending to a broken-down vehicle.
According to Thai News Agency, the accident happened at midnight when a 22-wheel trailer truck crashed into the back of a 6-wheel truck parked at the foot of the bridge leading to the Chim Phli overpass toward Bang Khae. Mr. Wichian, the driver of the 6-wheel truck, explained that he was transporting essential stage steel and speaker cabinets for the likay hero 'Kung Suthirat Wongthewan' for a performance in the Bang Khun Thian area. Unfortunately, the truck broke down en route, prompting him to stop in the left lane. Mr. Phongsak, the passenger, was signaling for assistance when the poorly lit area contributed to a tragic collision. The trailer truck, driving in the left lane, hit Mr. Phongsak, causing him to be thrown off the bridge to his death, before crashing into the back of the 6-wheel truck.
"Kung Suthirat" expressed deep sorrow upon hearing the news and visited the scene to mourn the loss of Mr. Phongsak, whom he regarded as a relative. Police have since brought both drivers in for questioning and have sent Mr. Phongsak's body for an autopsy, after which it will be returned to his relatives for religious rites.
