Cyber Police Crack Down on Major Gambling Website, Seize Assets Over 100 Million Baht

Bangkok: The Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) has announced a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat illegal online gambling, with the seizure of assets worth over 100 million baht from a major gambling website. The operation was led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwpaen, the Commander of TCSD, alongside other senior officials. The gambling network, identified as Betflixgun, had an annual turnover of over 240 million baht.

According to Thai News Agency, the investigation was initiated following public complaints about the illegal operations of the Betflixgun network, which allowed individuals to register and engage in online gambling, leading to significant financial losses. Pol. Col. Thira Chuasuwan, Director of the 4th Division of TCSD Division 5, spearheaded the investigation, which revealed a monthly turnover of 20 million baht. The Ratchada Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for 12 individuals involved in the network.

On February 27, 2025, the cyber police executed search warrants at three locations. The first site, a house in Bang Na District, Bangkok, yielded 7,260,000 baht in cash, computers, and valuable gold-framed Buddha amulets. The second location in Suan Luang District, Bangkok, revealed cash, mobile phones, computers, bankbooks, a vehicle, and gold and diamond jewelry, totaling an estimated 10 million baht. The third site, an apartment in Samut Prakan Province, contained computers, mobile phones, and other valuable items worth over 100 million baht.

The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals who managed the Betflixgun website, along with Mr. Kittisak, who was apprehended while withdrawing money from an ATM. He faces charges of organizing gambling and money laundering.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong emphasized that the operation aligns with the Cyber Police's policy to tackle illegal websites, including gambling and fraud-related sites. Since his tenure began, a dedicated unit has been established to address such complaints, resulting in the inspection of 310 illegal websites and the arrest of six offenders in this operation.

Pol. Col. Thira revealed that the Betflixgun website had been operational for five years under a prominent Thai leader. The suspect confessed, and the investigation took longer due to the group's caution in withdrawing money from various locations every two months. The seized assets and suspects have been handed over to the Technology Crime Suppression Division 5 for further legal proceedings.

Overall, the TCSD has made significant progress in tackling technology-related crimes, with 635 cases related to online gambling and the blocking of 9,394 illegal URLs between November 2024 and January 2025. The division continues its efforts to bring offenders to justice and block illegal operations.
