Traffic Advisory: Avoid Victory Monument Area Due to Rally

Bangkok: The Metropolitan Police Bureau has issued a traffic advisory urging road users to avoid the Victory Monument area due to a large rally expected to last until 9:00 p.m. The rally is causing significant traffic congestion in the vicinity.

According to Thai News Agency, the police have requested cooperation from the public to use alternative routes to mitigate the traffic impact. Motorists on Phahon Yothin Road, inbound, are advised to turn into Soi Din Daeng 1 to Din Daeng Road or make a U-turn in front of PTT Sanam Pao to access Phahon Yothin Road outbound via Soi Phahon Yothin 2 and Soi Phahon Yothin 5.

On Din Daeng Road, inbound drivers are advised to turn left onto Ratchaprarot Road at the Din Daeng Triangle Intersection or turn left onto Ratchawithi Soi 3 and then take a right onto Rang Nam Soi. For those on Phaya Thai Road, outbound, the suggested route is to turn left into Soi Yothi to Rama VI Road or left into Soi Yothi, then right onto Soi Ratchawithi 15, and left to the Chai Building intersection.

Ratchawithi Road, outbound, is closed to traffic from the Chai Building intersection onwards. The number of protesters is reportedly increasing, further exacerbating traffic conditions. Cars are beginning to accumulate on both sides of the road. Commuters seeking assistance or directions are encouraged to contact the traffic hotline at 1197.
