Tourists Flock to Phu Kradueng and Phu Ruea for First Light of 2025

LOEI: As 2025 dawned, approximately 1,000 tourists converged on Phu Kradueng National Park in Loei Province to witness the first light of the new year. Braving the cold weather of 8 degrees Celsius, visitors gathered at Lang Prae Reservoir, Pha Mak Duk, and Pha Yiap Mek to capture the moment as the sun rose above the horizon.

According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere was vibrant as tourists, many of whom had reserved tents at the pine tree field atop Phu Ruea, awoke early to climb the mountain. They were greeted by a stunning sunrise and celebrated by exchanging New Year's greetings and taking photographs as mementos. The cold weather did little to dampen their spirits as they basked in the sun's first rays of 2025.

After witnessing the sunrise, visitors participated in traditional activities, including paying homage to Phra Phutthanawabanphot and offering alms to monks. These acts of merit-making are believed to bring good fortune and health to families throughout the coming year, 2568 in the Thai Buddhist calendar. The event marked a joyful beginning to the new year for both locals and tourists alike.
