Bangkok: Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) has confirmed that Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Prime Minister of Thailand, will definitely give a speech tomorrow, May 27. The speech is perceived as an attempt to dispel circulating rumors suggesting that he intends to flee the country.
According to Thai News Agency, the ONCB has scheduled a meeting of the 3/2568 NRC committee for tomorrow afternoon at their office. Thaksin Shinawatra, who has been invited as an advisor to the ASEAN Chair, is set to deliver a special lecture addressing 'Drugs, transnational crime, perspectives and challenges for sustainable problem solving.'
Pol. Lt. Gen. Panurat Lakboon, Secretary-General of the ONCB, expressed his commitment to monitoring and improving state mechanisms related to drug control, such as STOP SEAL SAVE and public safety measures. He emphasized the importance of continuous evaluation and development in tackling drug-related issues.
Lt. Gen. Panurat also highlighted Thaksin's expertise, noting his past success in addressing drug problems during his tenure as Prime Minister. He expressed confidence in Thaksin's knowledge and experience, recalling how Thailand had previously declared victory in solving the drug crisis nearly three decades ago.
