Anutin Denies Rumors of Reclaiming Minister of Interior Role

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has denied rumors suggesting he was asked to reclaim the position of Minister of Interior, responding with "It's probably not me" after media reports hinted at such a possibility. According to Thai News Agency, Anutin clarified his stance following reports of a cabinet reshuffle, emphasizing that as a coalition party, they are committed to supporting government missions and working collaboratively with all ministers. He underscored that there had been no discussions or trends indicating a cabinet reshuffle within the coalition government, which is comprised of multiple parties, each with pre-agreed responsibilities. Anutin expressed gratitude to the judicial system for its swift action in a recent case involving the suppression of a gambling den in Krabi Province. A large team was deployed to address the issue, resulting in the successful arrest of bookies and gamblers. Anutin praised the court for quickly sentencing those involve d and mentioned that the Ministry of Interior has established a committee to investigate the matter, ensuring the investigation progresses smoothly. When questioned about his potential future in the Ministry of Interior, Anutin reiterated the coalition's strong unity and commitment to fulfilling government missions. He dismissed claims from a news agency that a ministerial official had summoned a ministry executive regarding cabinet changes, stating that no such summoning occurred and the news likely lacks credibility. Addressing questions about cooperation between political figures previously on opposing sides, Anutin suggested it would be beneficial for the country if former adversaries could unite and collaborate for the greater good. He acknowledged that while certain political figures have shown symbolic gestures of unity, such as holding hands, he humorously noted that hugging the Prime Minister was not possible due to her being a woman, playfully deflecting when asked about the possibility of hugging the Prime Minister's father.
