Thaksin Confident Government Will Remain Unaffected by Senate Complaint

Bangkok: "Thaksin" is confident that it will not affect the government after the Senate filed a complaint under Section 157. Thaksin reiterated that the recent complaint filed by 81 senators with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) will not impact the current government. The complaint addresses alleged collusion in the selection of senators.

According to Thai News Agency, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra commented on the petition submitted to the NACC. The petition calls for an investigation into the alleged misconduct of the Special Case Committee (SCC) and 11 other individuals under Article 157 of the Criminal Code. The focus is on the acceptance of a money laundering case involving the senators. Thaksin emphasized that it is within the rights of individuals to file such complaints, and that those responsible for handling the case should proceed without concern. He expressed confidence that the justice system will progress as necessary.

In response to questions about whether the presence of two ministers-Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Phumtham Vejjayachai and Justice Minister Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong-on the SCC would impact the government, Thaksin dismissed any potential effect. He stated that the ministers should continue their duties if they believe it to be correct, without worry.

When asked about the perception of political games between the Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties, Thaksin downplayed the notion. He asserted that discussions between the parties occur regularly and are focused on legal and political matters. Thaksin humorously addressed societal views on the relationship between the two parties, likening it to a "slap-kiss" dynamic, and remarked that it adds flavor to the political scene.
