Thailand to Host 2025 Women’s Volleyball World Championship, Aims to Boost Tourism

Bangkok: The government is extending an invitation to the public to support the "2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship," set to take place in Thailand from August 22 to September 7, 2025. Officials believe the event will serve as a catalyst for Thai tourism.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Government Spokesperson Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan emphasized the importance of the public's involvement in hosting the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship. She encourages Thais to cheer for the national women's volleyball team and to extend a warm welcome to tourists from across the globe.

The travel platform Agoda reports that the championship has attracted a surge of international tourists to Thailand, particularly in Nakhon Ratchasima and Phuket. These locations, serving as main venues for the tournament, have become hotspots for tourists from South Korea, Japan, and Malaysia.

While the South Korean national team is absent from this year's tournament, interest from Korean sports fans remains strong, underscoring Thailand's reputation as a premier sports destination. This aligns with the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 campaign, jointly promoted by the government and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

The government sees hosting this event as a reflection of Thailand's capacity to host world-class sporting events. It also presents an opportunity to attract future international competitions, such as MotoGP, the 2025 SEA Games, and the ASEAN Para Games, fostering further growth in the tourism sector.

Ms. Sasikarn reiterated the call for all Thais to support the national athletes and to be gracious hosts to international visitors, showcasing the warmth and friendliness of Thailand. The government aims to build confidence in Thailand's readiness to become a significant sports hub in the region and worldwide.
