Thai Condominium Association Reaffirms Earthquake Resilience of Buildings

Bangkok: The Thai Condominium Association reiterates that condominiums meet earthquake resistance standards. It is clear that no buildings have collapsed after being opened.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Prasert Taedulyasatit, President of the Thai Condominium Association, revealed that the construction standards of high-rise buildings in Thailand are earthquake-resistant. The construction of all high-rise buildings in Thailand after 2007 must be built according to construction standards to withstand earthquakes. This will prevent high-rise buildings, both condominiums and office buildings, from collapsing and endangering the lives of people in the building.

There will only be limited damage, such as tiles or marbles falling off, walls cracking from the earthquake, some ceilings falling off, or damage to some parts of the building structure. However, it will not be as serious as a collapse from the biggest earthquake that is unavoidable. This shows the construction standards of high-rise buildings in Thailand from the earthquake test as high as 8.2, which is the highest level in Thailand. It shows that the construction of high-rise buildings in Thailand is truly up to standard.

There is not a single building that has collapsed after opening, affecting the lives of building users, not even a single building this time. After this, each building will have to inspect the damage to the building caused by the earthquake in every place in order to repair the damaged and broken parts to ensure safety and build confidence for building users.
