Bangkok: Anutin signed a decree revoking the Thai citizenship of Cambodian Senator Lyon Pat, who was involved in scams and call centers, after the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) seized 70 million baht in assets in Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, signed a Ministry of the Interior announcement revoking Thai citizenship. The announcement stated that Mr. Pat Supapha, or Lyon Pat, a Thai national who acquired Thai citizenship through naturalization, continues to hold Cambodian citizenship. Furthermore, he received reports from the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) and the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicating his involvement with a group of individuals who defrauded the public, leading to sanctions from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control due to his special asset seizures related to human trafficking and cyber fraud. The announcement stated that Mr. Pat's behavior threatens national security, conflicts with the interests of the state, and violates public order or good morals, and is susceptible to the revocation of his Thai citizenship.
Under Section 19 (2) (3) (4) of the Nationality Act B.E. 2508 and if left untreated it will cause serious damage to the people and the public.
The Minister of Interior, in accordance with the powers under Section 19, paragraph one of the Nationality Act of 1965 to revoke the Thai nationality of Mr. Pat Supapha or Lyon Pat.
