Sa kaeo: Keep an eye on the October 10 deadline to reclaim sovereignty in Ban Nong Chan and Nong Ya Kaeo. Cambodians have begun to gather near the barbed wire fence at Ban Nong Ya Kaeo. The 1st Army Area Commander has traveled into Sa Kaeo Province to prepare to take command, while Weera Somkwamkit leads the crowd in giving moral support to officials.
According to Thai News Agency, the situation at Ban Nong Chan has many media outlets following the situation to see if any operations will take place today after the deadline for Cambodia to leave Thai sovereignty has passed. The administrative authorities have posted a large sign to inform the public. The sign outlines the deadline for the Ban Nong Chan process, stating that Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, has confirmed that Cambodians will be allowed to leave the area according to the original agreement, which follows the results of the most recent General Border Committee (GBC) meeting in Koh Kong on September 10, 2025.
Observation revealed that Colonel Chainarong Kasi, commander of Task Force 12, had entered the area. He entered the area with a screen, presumably to prepare for the Burapha Task Force's planned mine clearance in the Ban Nong Chan-Nong Ya Kaeo area of Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province. He had previously informed the Cambodian military to prevent misunderstandings, and hoped that the Cambodian government would also cooperate as agreed upon at the GBC meeting.
There was also movement by Mr. Wira Somkwamkit, president of the Anti-Corruption People's Network, who arrived in the area today. He stated that he was there to support officials and would not obstruct any operations. However, if no action is taken after 6:00 PM, he believes the issue of encroachment on sovereignty in Ban Nong Chan has been ongoing since 2010, leading to his arrest on Thai soil and imprisonment in Cambodia. Therefore, if nothing happens today, if he takes action, he asks that officials not obstruct him.
Regarding the situation at Ban Nong Ya Kaew, a group of approximately 30-40 Cambodian citizens began gathering near the barbed wire fence, waiting to see what was happening. Some held cameras and chatted with their own officers. Meanwhile, on the Thai side, soldiers from the Burapha Task Force remained stationed at the checkpoint, observing the situation.
It has been reported that containers supported by Kan Jom Phalang have arrived from Laem Chabang Port in Sa Kaeo Province, but their intended use remains to be seen. Meanwhile, all parties are closely watching to see if any operations will be carried out under today's (October 10th) deadline. It has been reported that Lt. Gen. Worayot Leungsuwan, Commander of the First Army Region, will travel to Sa Kaeo to monitor the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border, with the intention of personally commanding the situation should any escalation occur from the Cambodian side.
