Sisaket: EOD Border Patrol Police 22 is actively working to dismantle explosives following reports from villagers of four suspicious craters in Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, to ensure public safety.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant Theeraphat Namman, Deputy Inspector of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Disposal Group of Border Patrol Police Division 22, stated that the team was alerted by villagers to inspect four suspicious areas in Sao Thong Chai Subdistrict, Kantharalak District.
The inspection of the first site revealed a 105mm artillery shell in perfect working condition, posing a significant threat with a destructive radius of approximately 200 meters. Officials promptly executed a controlled destruction of the explosive at the site to minimize risks.
The other three inspected locations were found to be naturally formed craters, containing no explosives. The Sao Thong Chai Subdistrict, a site of past conflicts, often yields unexploded artillery shells. The recent receding water levels after the rainy season allowed villagers to spot these suspicious craters more easily.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Thiraphat has cautioned local residents to avoid approaching or handling any suspicious objects or craters they might discover on their land. Instead, they are urged to inform authorities immediately to ensure community safety.
