Boy Urgently Needs Blood Donations After Firecracker Accident

Bangkok: Nong Khem, a 10-year-old boy, is in urgent need of blood donations following a firecracker explosion that severely injured him and three other children. The incident occurred when Nong Khem and his friends collected unexploded firecrackers near a temple and modified them, leading to a tragic explosion.

According to Thai News Agency, Nong Khem suffered the most severe injuries, including a deep forehead wound and the amputation of his right little finger. He was transferred to Khon Kaen Hospital, where his condition remains concerning. Doctors performed initial surgery to remove firecracker fragments from his brain but confirmed that a second surgery is necessary due to remaining shrapnel.

Doctors have emphasized the urgent need for blood donations of all types, as Nong Khem has experienced significant blood loss. His grandmother, Ms. Lamyai, reported that despite the severity of his injuries, he is stable and responsive, able to communicate using gestures. The medical team is closely monitoring the possibility of further amputations on his right hand.

The appeal for blood donations is critical as the young victim prepares for a second brain surgery. The medical team continues to provide constant care and monitoring to ensure his recovery.
