Sa kaeo: The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces has ordered a mine-clearing operation at Ban Nong Ya Kaeo. The operation is aimed at removing mines and unexploded ordnance from the area, which has faced ongoing obstructions from the Cambodian military.
According to Thai News Agency, Colonel Siwa Wang-Akat, a spokesman for the National Mine Action Center (TMAC), announced that General Ukrit Boontanon has authorized the deployment of mine-clearing machinery in Nong Ya Kaeo Village, located in Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province. This initiative is part of Thailand’s humanitarian demining efforts under the Ottawa Convention. The area has been a point of tension due to consistent obstructions by Cambodian troops.
