Teenagers Arrested for Fatal Assault on Senior at Merit-Making Festival

Chaiyaphum: Police arrested a group of teenagers who brutally kicked a senior in the chin, causing his death in front of a Morlam stage in Chaiyaphum Province. The incident, which led to the tragic death of Mr. Thaweesak, 32, occurred during a merit-making festival held at Wat Pathummawat, Ban Khao Subdistrict, Ban Khao District.

According to Thai News Agency, the altercation was first brought to light through a Facebook clip shared by a user named "Khampun Ruammit Fanpage." The video depicted villagers and a Morlam actor attempting to save Mr. Thaweesak's life after he was chased and assaulted by a group of teenagers. The attack took place in the middle of the night on February 22, 2025, during a concert by the famous Morlam band 'Kham Phun Ruam Mit.' Initial findings revealed that Mr. Thaweesak was kicked so severely that a major blood vessel to his brain ruptured, leading to brain death.

Further investigation showed that a conflict arose between Mr. Kritsada's group, aged 28, and Mr. Thaweesak's group, who were both attending the concert. A physical altercation ensued, during which Mr. Kritsada's group, along with 6-7 other suspects, assaulted Mr. Thaweesak. After being punched to the ground, Mr. Kritsada and Mr. Anusak, among the suspects, kicked him in the chin, rendering him unconscious before fleeing the scene.

Police from Ban Khao Police Station subsequently tracked down and arrested Mr. Kritsada and Mr. Anusak. They have been brought to court for charges of causing bodily harm resulting in death. Both confessed to the conflict with Mr. Thaweesak's group, acknowledging that it escalated to the fatal kicking incident.
