Gang of Rats Caught Cutting Underground Telephone Cables in Bangkok

Bangkok: Tha Kham Police Station arrested a gang of rats who crawled into water pipes and cut underground telephone cables before arresting two suspects. Mr. Kraisorn, aged 33, and Mr. Rames, aged 21, were apprehended with evidence of an electric drill and wire cutting equipment inside a housing estate in Soi Anan Ngam Charoen 19, Tha Kham Subdistrict, Bang Khun Thian District.

According to Thai News Agency, the arresting team had been informed of three suspects involved in secretly cutting cables in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, the police found the perpetrators attempting to flee in a car. While one suspect managed to escape, Mr. Kraisorn and Mr. Rames were captured. Both individuals claimed they were construction workers who had been invited by a friend to collect cables, unaware that it was a theft operation. They insisted that the equipment belonged to their friend and that it was their first time committing such a crime. Following their arrest, both were taken to the investigation officer at Tha Kham Police Station. Additionally, Mr. Kraisorn was found to have drugs in his system, leading to an additional charge.

Pol. Lt. Col. Surayut Khaisangchan, acting deputy chief of the investigation division at Tha Kham Police Station, urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the relevant agencies. He advised that if there is any uncertainty regarding legal orders or activities within their area, contacting the service provider or calling 191 immediately is essential, especially if there is no visible maintenance work on drain covers or electrical wires.
