Tachilek: Tachilek police raided and arrested a call center gang that was hiding in the city, arresting 29 suspects and seizing a lot of evidence after Thailand put a lot of pressure on them by cutting off electricity and internet.
According to Thai News Agency, during the night of February 12-14, Tachilek police in Myanmar cracked down on illegal online gambling, arresting 29 members of a fraudulent call center gang, 22 of whom were from Myanmar and 7 were from Thailand, in the San Sai area of Tachilek. They were able to seize 400 computers and over 300 mobile phones as evidence.
The Myanmar government's crackdown has been ongoing since February 5, after Thai authorities cut off electricity, fuel and internet through five channels: Mae Sot District, Tak Province, Kanchanaburi Province and Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, in an attempt to pressure or cut off fraudulent gangs.
