Chanthaburi: The extraordinary meeting of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Committee (JBC) has begun in Chanthaburi, focusing on two issues: Cambodia's encroachment on sovereignty in Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, and the construction of a border fence.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Prasarn Prasarnvinitchai, Chairman of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission for the Demarcation of Land, and Mr. Lam Chea, Minister Responsible for Border Affairs and Co-Chair of the Cambodian side, jointly opened the special meeting of the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) in Chanthaburi Province. The meeting will discuss urgent issues, namely the Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaeo cases, as well as expediting the revision of the TOR 2003 to enable the use of LiDAR technology in aerial photographic mapping, and proposing urgent areas for border demarcation for areas where both sides agree.
Both countries hope that the JBC meeting will produce concrete results to prevent further losses from conflict.
