Somkid Endorses Chaturon for Pheu Thai Party Leadership

Bangkok: Somkid Chuekong, a former Pheu Thai Party MP for Ubon Ratchathani, has publicly endorsed Chaturon Chaisang as the new leader of the Pheu Thai Party, citing his suitability for the current political climate.

According to Thai News Agency, Somkid addressed the party's preparations to select a new leader following Paethongtarn Shinawatra's resignation. He mentioned that several candidates have been proposed, with Chaturon Chaisang, a party-list MP, standing out as a prime candidate. Somkid highlighted Chaturon's extensive political experience, leadership qualities, and straightforward nature as key reasons for his endorsement.

Somkid clarified that his proposal had not been discussed with Chaturon or consulted with anyone within the party. He emphasized that it was his personal opinion as a party member who will participate in selecting a party leader on October 31st. He praised Chaturon's clear political stance and commitment to democracy, describing him as a politician with unrivaled knowledge and ability in the competitive political arena.

Somkid expressed confidence that Chaturon would excel as the party leader but acknowledged that he was just one voice among many. He stated that if given the choice, he would definitely vote for Chaturon as the party leader.
