According to Thai News Agency, a lone robber targeted a gold shop in the Plaza Fresh Market area located in the bustling heart of Hat Yai city. The audacious heist saw the thief make off with 2 trays of gold jewelry, collectively weighing 184 baht and valued at over 9 million baht. The police and forensic officers have been deployed to probe the crime scene, as initial reports confirm that the entire robbery took a mere 2 minutes. The thief swiftly exited the shop and fled the scene on a motorcycle that was strategically parked nearby.
The suspect is described as an elderly man who donned a navy blue and black shirt, white pants, a black cap, and a black mask during the heist. At the time of the robbery, 4 female employees were present in the shop. The robber entered the premises, brandishing a handgun to threaten the staff, prompting them to retreat to the rear of the shop. In a desperate attempt to avert the crime, one employee emerged and pleaded with the robber by bowing, but the attempt proved futile.
