Senator Urges Government to Focus on Education as It Prepares to Distribute 10,000 Baht to Youth

Bangkok: Senator Pinyaphat Sansaniyachiwin has advised the government to focus on educating children after it announced plans to distribute 10,000 baht to individuals aged 16-20 years. The senator expressed concerns about the potential misuse of funds intended to stimulate the economy, emphasizing the need for guidance on appropriate spending.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Pinyaphat Sansaniyachiwin, a member of the Senate, commented on the government's Digital Wallet Phase 3 initiative aimed at distributing funds to the youth. She acknowledged the positive impact of economic stimulation through liquidity creation but stressed the importance of public relations efforts to educate both children and parents. She urged that the money should be utilized in a manner that promotes knowledge acquisition rather than being spent on leisure activities such as eating, traveling, or gaming.

When asked about the appropriateness of using this age group as a model for digital system payments, Ms. Pinyaphat remarked that the suitability depends on usage principles. Concerns were raised about the possibility of children using the funds for gaming or other non-constructive activities. However, she noted that if the funds are employed to generate benefits, it would be considered appropriate. The senator highlighted the crucial role of adults in educating the youth about making valuable use of the money. She called for a focus on development that ensures effective use of the funds to achieve worthwhile outcomes.
