Seized 1 Million Methamphetamine Pills Smuggled from the Lao PDR Border

Ubon Ratchathani: The commander of the 2nd Army led the team to launch the operation 'Suranaree Dokbua Ban Samphan Rimkhong', seizing 1 million methamphetamine pills.

According to Thai News Agency, reporters reported that early this morning, from the Seal Stop Safe policy, '2-layer border seals' of the government, the army has given great importance to integrating with all sectors, both security and accommodation business operators, hotels in the border area of Kanchanaburi Province, to work together to be the eyes and ears of officials to prevent illegal activities that may slip into the inner area.

Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Area, as the Command for the Suppression and Interception of Narcotics, Precursors and Chemicals in the Northeast Border (Nb.Ys.24), has given a policy to the Surasee Task Force as the Lower Interception Unit and the 4th Control Division (4th Control Division), the Suranaree Task Force (Suranaree Task Force) and the Mekong Riverine Peacekeeping Unit, Ubon Ratchathani (Ubon Ratchathani Naval Area Command) to use intelligence and increase the frequency of inspections and random inspections in risk areas where illegal items are suspected of being smuggled into Thailand.

Last night, the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Police received a tip-off that there was drug smuggling from the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) into Thailand in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Therefore, integrated forces were organized with the 1st Long Range Reconnaissance Platoon, Suranaree Task Force, Suranaree Task Force, 2302nd Military Company (2302nd Military Company) and 22nd Ranger Regiment Task Force (22nd Ranger Regiment) to conduct ambush and patrol in the area according to the Suranaree Dokbua Ban Samphan tactical plan along the Mekong River in Ban Na Waeng, Village No. 12, Na Waeng Subdistrict, Khemmarat District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.

They were able to arrest 1 Laotian suspect, identified as Thao Luean Thepphatida, 39 years old, Laotian, along with 10 sacks of methamphetamine pills, approximately 1,000,000 pills, and 1 kip boat as evidence on the bank of the Mekong River in Ban Na Waeng, Village No. 12, Na Waeng Subdistrict, Khemmarat District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. Therefore, the evidence was seized at the Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Police Region 7. The suspect was detained at Khemmarat Police Station for further legal proceedings.
