Santhana Submits Casino Bribery Documents to Bhumjaithai Party Executives

Bangkok: Former Special Branch police officer Santhana Prayoonrat has arrived at the Bhumjaithai Party to submit a 50-page document detailing allegations against four political executives within the party. He claims these individuals have direct or indirect involvement in, or have benefited from, business investments along the Thai-Cambodian border.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Santhana intended to present the documents to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, indicating that the documents were presented in a clear file rather than a traditional brown envelope. Mr. Santhana described the documents as an "appetizer," containing both photos and information about the four politicians.

Mr. Santhana identified the first two individuals as significant figures within the Bhumjaithai Party, noting his close relationship with one of their brothers who had previously been involved in a lawsuit but is now free due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. He described another individual as an influential party figure known for his popularity, though public perception suggests he has lost composure.

Regarding the other two ministers, Mr. Santhana likened them to "neat as a folded cloth" but not always "ironed." He mentioned that these ministers are consistently part of any cabinet list and alleged their involvement in soliciting benefits from nine casinos. He also mentioned their close ties to individuals known as Hia Tue and So Maem, referred to as the godfathers and godmothers of Poipet.

Mr. Santhana clarified that his actions were not meant to threaten or extort favors, stating that he had never engaged in such activities. While admitting his involvement in the casino business, he expressed his inability to accept groups exchanging national interests for personal benefits.
