Sadao: Police from Sadao Police Station, Songkhla Province, arrested a Malaysian man for illegally transporting weapons of war. He confessed to planning to transport all the weapons to Malaysia because he was hired by another party. According to Thai News Agency, the investigation by Sadao Police Station was part of a crime and drug prevention checkpoint operation on Kanchanawanit Road, Sadao-Dan Nok, in front of the Ban Dan Nok patrol station in Village No. 7, Samnak Kham Subdistrict. During this operation, a white sedan was identified, driven by Mr. Yeap Sun-ee, a 45-year-old Malaysian national, who appeared unusually frightened. The police signaled for the car to stop and, upon searching the vehicle, found two M16 rifles, 300 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, 100 rounds of .45mm ammunition, 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and seven 5.56mm ammunition cassettes. Mr. Yeab provided a mixed testimony, admitting to plans of smuggling the weapons to Malaysia as he had been hired by another individual. He also confe ssed to having recently consumed drugs. The police are hastening their investigation to determine any additional parties involved. They have also noted that Mr. Yeb has a history of entering and exiting Thailand multiple times. He faces charges of possession of firearms and ammunition unlicensed by the registrar, drug use, and driving under the influence of drugs, all of which are legal violations.
