Royal Thai Army Addresses Cambodian Tourists’ Activities at Prasat Ta Kwai

Surin: The Royal Thai Army has clarified an incident involving Cambodian tourists at Prasat Ta Kwai, where they engaged in activities that prompted an intervention from Thai military officers.

According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Col. Richa Suksuwanon, deputy army spokesman, stated that the Suranaree Force's 2602nd Ranger Company reported the occurrence on June 18, 2025, at around 1:00 p.m. A group of approximately 30 Cambodian tourists visited the Prasat Ta Kwai in Tambon Bak Dai, Amphoe Phanom Dong Rak, Surin Province. The tourists were involved in recording images, videos, and singing songs at the site. Thai military officers approached the group to explain that their symbolic expressions were not in line with the previously agreed guidelines. Following the discussion, the tourists understood the situation and voluntarily ceased their activities, spending about 20 minutes at the location in total. The interaction concluded amicably, adhering to the cooperation guidelines established by both parties.

The joint agreement between Thailand and Cambodia permits non-armed military personnel to be present at Prasat Ta Kwai to assist visitors to the temple area.
