Rocket Falls in Yasothon Classroom During Bun Bang Fai Festival

Yasothon: A rocket from Roi Et shockingly fell into a classroom in Yasothon, creating a significant disturbance but fortunately causing no injuries. The incident took place at Ban Khui Tap Tao School in Yasothon Province, specifically in a fifth-grade classroom within a single-story wooden school building.

According to Thai News Agency, the rocket penetrated the roof and classroom floor before embedding itself into the ground, leaving a 30-centimeter-wide and deep hole. Wooden beams were scattered throughout the classroom due to the impact. Ms. Lalita, a 29-year-old teacher, recounted her terrifying experience as she was just a meter away from where the rocket landed. She described hearing a loud noise as the rocket broke through the roof, followed by sparks, prompting her to flee the scene. Thankfully, the classroom was empty at the time, as students had been sent home earlier in the day after a previous rocket incident on the school roof.

The incident was part of the Bun Bang Fai festival in Phanom Phrai District, Roi Et Province. Over 1,000 rockets were launched during the festival, and due to the proximity of the launch site-only 4 kilometers from the village-rockets frequently fall in this area. The school director had preemptively closed classes to ensure student safety, allowing them to go home while teachers remained on duty.
