Ubon Ratchathani: The atmosphere at the lawn in front of the Dom Pradit Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Nam Yuen District is bustling as officials prepare to welcome Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra. She is set to arrive amidst lively preparations and heightened security measures. The Commander of Army Region 2, Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, is also expected to greet the Prime Minister, marking their first meeting since a controversial audio clip was leaked.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister is scheduled to land in Nam Yuen District this afternoon, with her arrival at the Dom Pradit Subdistrict Administrative Organization anticipated around 1:00 p.m. District Chief Mr. Athit Busaba has invited local village headmen, elders, and the public to welcome her at the helicopter field of the Dom Pradit Subdistrict Administrative Organization International Sports Stadium. Post-arrival, the Prime Minister plans to encourage Village Security Guards (VDP) with gifts and meet with troops of the Suranaree Force at the Morakot Operations Base.
The visit gains significance as it is the first face-to-face meeting between the Prime Minister and Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang since the leaked audio clip incident involving the Prime Minister and Samdech Hun Sen, which also mentioned the 2nd Army Commander. Due to the sensitive nature of the visit, media access has been restricted to areas approximately 10 kilometers away from the Morakot base.
The ongoing tensions at the Chong Bok or Emerald Triangle area, where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia converge, have intensified security concerns. A recent clash between Thai and Cambodian soldiers on May 28th has led to increased preventive measures and heightened vigilance along the Thai-Cambodian border.
