Surin: Region 2 Army Commander Lt. Gen. Bunsin Phadklang has extended his gratitude to Thai citizens who have visited three significant historical sites in Surin Province, encouraging them to partake in local shopping to aid the economy.
According to Thai News Agency, the Commander highlighted the importance of visiting Prasat Ta Muen Thom, Prasat Ta Muen Tod, and Prasat Ta Kwai in Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province, as a means to appreciate the historical beauty and stimulate economic growth in the region. These ancient sites, located along the Thai border, serve not only as cultural landmarks but also as a source of income for the local community.
Throughout the day, military personnel from the 211th Infantry Company managed the influx of tourists at Ta Muen Thom Temple, which saw a total of 742 Thai visitors, including men, women, children, monks, a nun, and one foreign tourist. Meanwhile, Prasat Ta Kwai in Bak Dai Subdistrict was attended to by the 22nd Infantry Battalion, accommodating 91 Thai tourists and providing necessary information regarding site visitation.
Lt. Gen. Boonsin reported that despite an initial bout of rain, which temporarily deterred visitors, the weather cleared, allowing for a steady stream of locals and tourists to explore the temples. Particularly at Prasat Ta Muen Thom, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with tourists expressing their appreciation to military officers through gifts, reinforcing the officers' commitment to safeguarding the nation.
Lt. Gen. Boonsin conveyed his heartfelt thanks to the visitors for their role in preserving Thailand's cultural heritage and boosting the local economy. He warmly invited more citizens to explore these historic sites during holidays, emphasizing their significance and the opportunity they present for economic stimulation.
